What We Teach
Elementary school at PlayPen
The years a student spends at elementary school mark a huge development in learning – from reading, writing, and math to language skills and emotional development.
At this stage, students begin to acknowledge themselves as learners and gain the autonomy to seek out knowledge and start to understand the challenges that will come in future years.
Bilingual learning every day
Our innovative blended curriculum means that elementary school students spend 50% of the day learning in Portuguese immersion and the other 50% of their time in English immersion. In this way, students’ English language abilities develop naturally and the two teaching teams are able to address the same topics from different perspectives.
A flexible learning environment
Many of the classrooms in our elementary school are designed with retractable walls that can be opened, integrating the spaces and allowing classes to conduct activities together. This allows classes to collaborate across the international and Brazilian curriculums, as well as across different year groups. This layout also encourages staff to work collaboratively and to plan for projects that favor social interaction, investigation and group reflection.
A welcome from the Head of Elementary School
The arrival of students at elementary school is marked by the expansion of the perception of ‘Who am I?’. Children are increasingly aware of themselves in a social context and the interactions that take place at school are of great importance in the development of autonomy.
In our school, we offer individualized care and monitoring throughout the school career to help our students on the pathway to success.
It will be my pleasure to welcome your child to PlayPen and accompany them on this journey.
