How to enrol
On this page, you’ll find step-by-step instructions for getting to know the school and enrolling, as well as answers to the main questions you may have during the process. At all times, you can count on the support of our Admissions team, who are always on hand to welcome families.
Please note that completing the register of interest and taking part in a session with the school, be it an individual visit or a group event, does not imply a commitment to enrol.
- STEP 1: REGISTER YOUR INTEREST
This is the first step towards joining the school. To access the register of interest, click here: Register of Interest.
For families who already have children enrolled at PlayPen, we ask that you also fill in the register of interest.
- STEP 2: VISIT TO THE SCHOOL
Once you have registered your interest, the Admissions team will contact you to arrange a visit. This is the ideal time to find out more about our teaching programme, facilities and answer any questions you may have.
- STEP 3: ANALYSING THE SCHOOL
At this stage, students get an in-depth look at day-to-day school life. Students take part in an experience, a time for the family to get closer to the school and meet the teaching team. For students in the Final Years, a Diagnostic Assessment is carried out, which evaluates learning to date, to help the teaching team draw up levelling plans, if necessary.
- STEP 4: SENDING DOCUMENTATION
At this point, our Admissions team will register the student in the school’s internal system, including the basic documentation required. From then on, the family will have a login and password to access the Portal, where they will have to include the additional documentation in order to proceed with enrolment.
- STEP 5: CONTRACT
Our school secretariat team will then validate the information and generate the contract. The document will be available for digital signature online via the Portal.
- STEP 6: ENROLMENT
To finalise the process, you will need to formalise payment of the first instalment of the annual fee. The person responsible can generate the payment slip within the Portal. Once this stage has been completed, enrolment is officially complete.
- STEP 7: STARTING SCHOOL
Once the enrolment has been finalised, the student can opt for extracurricular activities and/or LABs.
- STEP 8: ANAMNESIS MEETING
An interview with the pedagogical team will be scheduled before the start of classes, and we will have reception activities to integrate the new students. Our team will be responsible for providing guidance on all these steps. Welcome!

Adapting to school life
The adaptation period is important for new students to familiarise themselves with the environment, teachers and friends, while also having the support of their parents and/or guardians.
Each level coordinator will align an adaptation strategy with the family’s needs. Check out how the adaptation period works for each level:
Early childhood education
Students must be accompanied by a carer and will be introduced to the school environment gradually. As they become more comfortable, they will increase their time in the classroom. As children may be more sensitive during this period, it is important that teachers can count on the support of a carer to ease any possible discomfort on the part of the child. To help with the adaptation process, carers should refrain from staying in the classroom for too long and should monitor the child through the one-way mirror or wait in reception.
Toddlers:
The adaptation process usually takes a week to complete.
Early Years:
The adaptation process usually takes two to four weeks to complete.
Primary School - Final Years
Students will be introduced to the school gradually. Parents and carers should be available for telephone contact. It is recommended that students do not carry out any other extracurricular activities during the first week.
Primary School - Final Years
The students will be monitored and, if necessary, parents and carers will be informed of the students’ progress by telephone.
Safeguarding
Escola Cidade Jardim | PlayPen values a safe environment for all students and takes measures to ensure the protection of all members of the school community.
The culture of safeguarding permeates our daily actions. In addition, our employees take part in annual training programmes.
We have adopted a strict safeguarding policy, which even includes checking the social networks of interested families.
